About ViziPlay
A picture is worth a thousand words ...
... so the saying goes, and building on this idea we have developed some fun
applications for school children that both connects them to heritage collections and
helps them develop story-telling skills.
Our basic system, Viziplay I, is linked particularly to key learning objectives of the Primary National Strategy
for years 5 and 6. Pupils use our semantic browser to explore a collection and to select a number of images
which they then use as "props" for building a story. The images are hard-copied with spaces around each image
for the pupils to write their story.
Viziplay II allows the pupils to create an interactive comic strip. Pupils add narrative, speech
bubbles and other interactive elements to each pane of the strip. They can then record various audio effects
to build a fully interactive composition. The final digital story can be shared with friends and contacts on
a social networking site.
